Horses are fun for the ladies

Horses are one thing that came out of soccer. Our current horse is Jack. His real name is Jack 5. The name has a proud heritage in horse blood lines.

Jack is the second horse we have had in Virginia.  Sweetie was nice as his name implies. But Jack has a real mind of his own. I think that is why Cindy loves him so.

Katie Goes to a BIG Horse Show

Katie has been working hard toward going to a horse show.   In the past, the shows have been local.  This one is too, but points you earn go toward a Virginia Horse Association total.  It means you are entered in a more competitive field.  Kate is one of the few riders that did not bring her own horse.  She seems a bit nervous as she prepares to go in the show ring.
It doesn't take her long to move from anxious to focused.  You can see that she is in good form, the horse is taking off from the right point and clears the jump.  Riding the jump course in two directions is the first part of the test.
The second part of the test is called flat work.  Down in Virginia they call it "hacking out".  (The people that lived here before us are a weird crowd)

Again, Katie looks very poised.  She is a pretty rider.  Some others may be more likely to trot or canter a course, and they might take higher jumps.  Kate is very conscious of her form and style.

You can see below that she collected to Yellow Ribbons (3rd) for her efforts.  We are very proud of her.  Katie looked surprised when Trixie said "Congratulations"!
