Trees Turn Into Ponds

Sometimes we change things,

Sometimes things change us

Period Ending March 2004

Sometimes Kate worries about the dogs.  She wants to make sure that they love her.  She really shouldn't try so hard.  You can tell from these pictures that they love her, just like she loves them.
Cindy has a different issue.  She knows that Charlie loves her.  However, Charlie also loves to bite her.  Above she tries to teach him how to roll over.  He remembers that he likes to bite, and takes a chomp on her arm instead.  Finally, Charlie is reminded that Cindy knows where the food is.  Suddenly, Charlie wants to be friends again.
These dogs above think there is something going on in the back yard.  They take it upon themselves to supervise.  What do you think it is?

It's a tractor of course.  Marty is unloading it early Saturday morning.
It was small enough to get into the back yard easily.
And the controls are easy to understand.  Lars has no trouble operating the backhoe.
Together, they find the backhoe is too small for a hickory.  Ramming the tree with the bucket seems to have a better affect.
Finally, we have dug around it and deep enough to stand in.  Still, it won't be budged.  What keeps this monster in the ground?
Finally the tractor and the chain saw convince the stump to come out.  However, it is so heavy that the little tractor really has a problem lifting the stump.

That tractor could not lift the stump high enough to get it on the trailer for disposal.  We had to put the trailer in the street and drive the stump on.  I think it weighed about as much as the tractor.
It is the end of the day.  The shadows are sweeping across the back yard and over our new pond.  We have always wanted a water element in the back yard.  Now we know where it will go.  That will have to be another set of pictures.
